Firefighters were called to the scene at 6.25pm last night with reports a fire had started in the workshop area of an iron shed on Poseidon Road.
It took more than two hours to contain the blaze, and while it claimed the shed and a car inside, crews were able to prevent the fire spreading to adjoining buildings.
Albury Fire and Rescue NSW Inspector Stewart Alexander said investigations were ongoing into the cause of the fire.
“Corowa RFS and Albury Fire and Rescue NSW were on scene and CFA from Wahgunyah and Rutherglen come over and gave us a hand,” he said.
“It was a really good team effort, with excellent work by Fire and Rescue crews initially to attack the fire.
“It got dark and given that, and risk of structural collapse, we decided we’d close down operations about midnight.”
Corowa RFS remain on scene this morning continuing clean-up at the site.
More to come.
