The former Holbrook football club coach was charged by police over an early morning incident in Thurgoona on September 10 last year.
Police had alleged Whitehead elbowed and punched a woman after she tried to intervene in an altercation between her partner and the coach following a ride home on a courtesy bus.
Magistrate Rodney Brender delivered a lengthy judgement in Albury Court on Friday morning, finding Whitehead guilty.
Whitehead will be sentenced on October 27.
