Smith picked up 14 possessions for Collingwood in limited ground time playing alongside the likes of Alex Fasolo, Jarryd Blair and Ben Crocker.
“It was a great experience to play at that level,” Smith said.
“It was a big step up.
“As soon as you got the ball you didn’t have much time to get rid of it.”
Bushrangers coach Leon Higgins said the Sacred Heart College student more than held his own.
”He kicked a goal and was really competitive around the stoppages which is his strength,” Higgins said.
“He got better as the game went on.
“He was clean with the ball in the pressure situations.
Smith has been invited to attend the AFL national draft combine in October.
The Bushrangers play Northern Knights in the final round at Wangaratta on Sunday.
