But Mr Abbott is accountable to the Australian people for much more than that pathetic, ego-driven debacle.

His personal views have resulted in Australia being a country that is a good 10 years (conservatively) behind where it should be on energy policy and clean energy. He did nothing but attack the carbon tax, ad nauseum, as did his Liberal disciples.

The voters were assured that it was the root of all evil and that once he came to power and axed it, then hey presto – our power prices would fall. What a joke that Abbott line turned out to be. I want Tony Abbot to tell the Australian people how he got it so wrong. Was it just a lie to the people of Australia, motivated only by his desire to win power with no regard for the consequences? Or was it a case of Mr Abbott lacking any proper understanding of the issue? Whichever is the case, neither scenario speaks well for him.

And now he continues to conspire and snipe and agitate within his own party, undermining any hope of progress on energy policy and supported more it would seem by a few right-wing shock jocks and commentators than anyone living in the real world.

What he is doing in continuing his efforts to set his country back when it comes to this important issue is morally reprehensible. 

Many people are asking what happened in the last week in our federal government. Has Australia become like the US where the Murdoch press has the say in who is the leader of our country?

Alan Jones and Ray Hadley are not members of any political party, so why is it that these hacks have so much say? Tony Abbott failed his own party when he was prime minister but the LNP has implemented all of his policies.

The people of Australia want our country back.

What is the AFL thinking with no footy on this weekend? It’s the first week of September, footy fans are itching for finals action and all we have on offer is a “legends” game and the VFL. I won’t be watching either.

And opening the finals series with a Thursday night game is another dumb move, or maybe just another show of arrogance by the AFL. 

Good luck to any country people who might have planned on getting there. Now you won’t only have to cough up a fortune for the ticket – if you can get one – you’ll have to miss at least a day’s work, maybe two. How is it fair, or even make sense to host a final on a midweek night? It just makes it that much harder for fans. I’ll say one thing for footy fans though; you can’t question their commitment. As hard as the AFL executive makes it for them to support the game they love, they continue to do so.
