Albury United scored a 4-0 victory against Melrose in their quarter-final clash at Melrose Park, while St Pats withstood a late fightback from Wodonga Diamonds at Willow Park to win 4-2, joining Albury City and Wangaratta in the last four.
A double from Rachel White inside 21 minutes put Diamonds on the back foot, before Raq Vogel and captain Claire Mahoney extended the margin to 4-0 at the break.
Diamonds dug deep in the second half with Jacqui Hawkins getting them on the board three minutes in, while Karina Kovacs’ header in the 61st minute breathed life back into the contest.
However, St Pats steadied to extend their season for at least another week.
“They came out in the second half and really wanted to fight for it,” St Pats’ coach Josh O’Farrell said.
“Our girls have just got to learn to keep that composure and control, we let them dictate the play in the second half.”
Vogel is in doubt for the semi-finals after hurting her shoulder in the second half.
Diamonds’ coach Caron Stiler admitted her side left its run too late.
“It was very hard because I was at another ground to start, but that’s what happens with finals,” she said.
“Breannan McCabe stood out, she took Claire (Mahoney) out of the game.”
Next weekend, Albury City meets St Pats, while Wangaratta faces Albury United.
