Yarrawonga’s James Elliott and Lavington veteran John Hunt charged into each other at the 10-minute mark of the first quarter.
Elliott appeared OK, but when he stood on the mark struggled to put any pressure on his right leg.
It happened just metres from the interchange bench, where he limped off.
He started the second quarter, but was obviously struggling.
“I can’t really explain what happened,” he said.
“I woke up this morning and I’ve got a bruise on my lower shin.
“I’m booked in to see someone in Melbourne tomorrow (Tuesday), but I don’t see myself missing.”
The 23-year-old key defender was shattered to miss most of the thrilling win.
“I felt bloody useless standing there,” he said.
