Jones was delighted with the way his side rounded out what has been a challenging first year at the helm.
After conceding in the 16th minute, Murray clawed one back through Zac Walker prior to half-time, before Melkie Woldemichael iced the game in the final five minutes.
Jones admitted it was close to the best his side has looked moving the ball forward all year.
“Right from the start, the boys were really switched on and it felt like we were playing a really attacking brand of football and creating chances,” he said.
“We worked them over in the second half and Melkie ended up scoring the winner which was really pleasing because he was the best player on the park by a fair way.
“We played him up high on a wing and it allowed him to attack and run at players.
“His pressure defending from the front was really strong and he certainly deserved his goal.
“They finished fourth on the ladder, so that gives you an indication of what we’re capable of when we click.
“It was a good way to finish the year and a really even contribution from all our players.”
Dandenong City earned promotion to the NPL.
The final ladder is: Dandenong City 61, Moreland City 53, Eastern Lions 42, Springvale 39, GV Suns 38, Melbourne City 34, Box Hill United 30, Langwarrin 29, Murray United 28, Nunawading City 16.
