The talented 33-year-old has struggled to get a good result at the venue throughout his career.
“It’s not a place that has been too kind to me – for lots of reasons,” Slade said.
“It’s a marque event on our calendar so I’d love to have my name on the trophy.”
Sandown is the first of the big enduro events of the year and Slade is again teamed up with Ash Walsh.
“Ash and I are really comfortable with each other now, which is important in these co-driver races,” he said.
“Having someone who you know and work well with is one less thing you have to worry about; it just reduces the opportunities for silly mistakes that can cost you a big race like this.”
The BJR cars have been quick again this year but the smooth, low grip surface at Sandown doesn’t suit them and it’s a hurdle they will have to jump to find success.
