A white Mercedes was detected travelling northbound at 160km/h on the Hume near Springhurst around 11.30am, and by 2pm a red P-plater also had his car taken off him.
Wangaratta highway patrol Senior Constable Shane Hughes said the Mercedes would be impounded for a month.
“The female driver in her 60s is facing summons to Wangaratta Court for driving dangerously and exceeding the speed limit,” he said.
“An 18-year-old male was doing burn-outs in Tweet Street, we had a complaint from a member of the public and located him at APCO where he made full admissions.
“His car has also been impounded, under the hoon legislation, and he’ll be charged with careless driving and not having full control of his vehicle.
“We urge all drivers to slow down and remind them to also slow to 40km/h around flashing lights.
“That is now in place in NSW as well.”
