Smith was lethal in the Demons’ 49-47 preliminary final victory over Rand-Walbundrie-Walla at Walbundrie on Saturday and shapes as the key to them upsetting Billabong Crows in the decider.
“She played very well,” coach Jose Webb said.
“It was a good all-round team effort.
“It would have been difficult to pick best-on-court because it was so even.”
Lockhart and Rand-Walbundrie-Walla went virtually goal for goal in the preliminary final with the Demons opening a mini-break in the final term and maintaining the advantage.
It last won a premiership in 2006 while the Crows are gunning for their first flag since entering the competition.
The Crows will welcome the return of Holly Dowling.
Saturday’s A grade grand final starts at 2.30pm.
