The boy, who can’t be named due to his age, targeted the vehicles in the Wodonga train station car park on Thursday night.
The owner of a grey Mitsubishi was left with a $2000 bill after the teen and a mate smashed the car’s roof, windows and side door.
Another car’s window was shattered so the boy could steal a purse and loose change.
The other vehicles sustained various levels of damage to their bonnets and windows ranging from $40 to $400.
The boy had stolen a bike from outside a McDonald’s restaurant a short time earlier.
A children’s court heard it was discovered “mangled” on the train tracks below Melrose Drive the following day.
The teenager was on multiple sets of bail at the time.
A magistrate had deferred sentence on various assault charges earlier this month to see how the boy was progressing.
But the 15-year-old is now behind bars for the first time in his life.
The court on Tuesday heard he had been enjoying the facilities at Parkville, up until the point he was attacked from behind on Monday.
A police prosecutor opposed bail for the teenager, arguing there was “very little supervision or control of the child’s behaviour”.
It has been a “senseless rampage of crime” only a short time after his last court appearance, the Leading Senior Constable said.
The matter will return for further bail consideration on Wednesday, followed by sentencing on November 12.
