ABC’s confusing message
The sacking of Michelle Guthrie by the ABC board with little or no explanation is far from acceptable. With this being a government-funded organisation, the tax payers are entitled to the reasons for the dismissal.

The reaction by the ABC staff is very confusing as they are continually pushing for gender equality in pay, representation on boards and in government.
It would appear to me that when faced with reality the ideals they promote are thrown out the window.
The staff should be ashamed as their actions are very hypocritical.
There are many brilliant women out there and need to be supported in their efforts to reach the top. Think the Australian of the Year Professor Michelle Simmons was an excellent choice and should be given more media exposure.

Councillors or children?
Isn't it reassuring that Albury Council cannot even elect its mayor without claims and counter-claims of broken agreements and in-fighting among councillors.
I thought these people were supposed to represent the interests and needs of rate-payers rather than their own personal agendas.
To top it off in the cringe-worthy department, said mayor then cries so poor that he might not contest the next state election in March.
Is this a clumsy attempt to garner monetary support for his bid?
After all, he apparently does not have a “sugar daddy or sugar mummy” like NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian or Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack.
What a ridiculous slur on these two elected representatives!
It is not an acceptable comment from a newly elected mayor of our city.
I firmly believe that “Mack (should NOT be) back” (The Border Mail headline September 25) and should resign from the post immediately.
This council often reminds me of a badly behaved toddler group on a sugar high! (Sorry, kids!)
I have sent a copy of The Border Mail to each of the maligned MPs.

Bright idea for magpie
I think if they can trap the troublesome magpie at Bright they should transport him to the MCG Saturday and release him just as the Eagles run onto the ground.
He can then swoop, peck and claw as much as he likes .
Hopefully the roar of 100,000 people will frighten him off to the nearest gum tree where he can live happily ever after, recognising magpie fans as they make their way in and only swooping opposition fans!
When he finally passes on Eddie could have him stuffed and mounted on a pole in Swan Street outside the Holden Centre
Maybe a plaque could read “he soared like an eagle but swooped like a magpie and helped win the 2018 premiership”.
