Lamb and mutton numbers increased for a record yarding and quality was generally good for the new season lambs which were well presented. There were 11,450 new season lambs penned and trade weights were in the majority, heavy weights were limited and store lambs were well supplied. All the buyers were operating and competition was softer resulting in a continued easing of the market. Light new season lambs to the processors were $17 cheaper and averaged from $131 to $138/head. The bulk of the store lambs sold from $100 to $135 down $20/head. Medium and heavy trade weight new season lambs were $10 to $14/head cheaper and averaged 770c/kg cwt. Most of the heavy trade weights sold from $172 to $195/head. Heavy weight new seasons were $5 to $10 cheaper and averaged 785c to 795c/kg cwt with most sales from $205 to a top of $248.20/head. Heavy weight old lambs were $15 cheaper and averaged $191/head or 740c/kg cwt. Mutton numbers increased and quality was good with some large runs of good conditioned sheep, most grades were $10 to $20/head cheaper.
Light Merino ewes sold from $69 to $88/head or 425c/kg cwt. Medium weight Merino ewes sold from $90 to $124 or 480c while heavy first cross ewes sold from $118 to $174/head or 460c/kg cwt.

Lamb numbers held steady, while sheep numbers increased owing to the deteriorating spring conditions across the supply area. The lamb market experienced another price correction over all categories.
There were just over 21,000 new season trade lamb and quality continues to be mixed, with bigger numbers of young lambs showing dryness.
Lambs to turnout or feed on sold to easier price trends, despite a larger field of restockers. Restocking inquiry came from Tasmania, Bathurst, Ballarat, Birchip, Finley, Temora, Forbes, Albury and locally.
