RAD Growers founder Erin O'Callaghan is offering rice straw as mulch to Border vegetable growers.
She said it was a chemical-free way to prevent weeds and moisture loss.
“This year in particular has been a tough season to source the goods,” she said.
“With such dry conditions across eastern Australia, rice straw has become a desired option as stock feed across the country.
“With no water allocation for irrigation farmers, it's not a great outlook for rice growers for the coming season so we're stocking up and have snagged a paddock or two that has been cut, dried and baled.”
RAD Growers is offering two bale sizes – 15 kilograms or 350 kilograms – for collection today and next Saturday, October 6, between 8am and noon at 3801 Riverina Highway, Bungowannah.
Rice straw orders must be placed at RAD Growers’ online shop.
