However, how many know who’s the head of the MLA?
Well, it’s the very competent, and busy, Dr Michele Allan. The highly credentialed MLA head is also chancellor of Sturt University, chair of Apple and Pear Australia, director of a graingrowers organisation and has just been appointed to the board of Wine Australia. No wonder she’s not seen out in the bush. With all the oversight required, it's a wonder she has time to draw breath.
WHAT’S GOING ON?
What is going on in the Victorian seat of Ovens Valley? What are the Nationals doing? And Opposition Leader Matthew Guy?
The Nats preselected Tim McCurdy knowing he had a potentially damaging issue hanging over his head. On November 2, he heads to court on this matter, not related to his term as Ovens Valley MP. But already the Nationals are irreparably damaged. Should McCurdy survive post the election, he could fall on his sword, willingly or not, necessitating a byelection. The Nationals’ Coalition partners are hamstrung in nominating a candidate due to past agreements. Should McCurdy falter between November 2 and the close of nominations on November 7, the Nats and the Libs could be scrambling.
GOLDEN FLEECE?
My old mate Peter Rogers at Mount Yulong poll merinos must be making a fortune if a report in a rural daily weekly is any guide.
A ram sold was reported to have had a fleece that measured 21 micron, 2.8 SD, 13.3 CV and 99.7pc CF, and it weighed 91.5kg. How it was weighed on the ram is a mystery, maybe the science has passed me by.
