“Selfies” 1945 style
October 19 to January 12, Lavington Library from 10.00am, free
These days taking a “selfie” is almost second nature – but in the 1940s taking your own photo involved a lot more effort. Zelma Chick had to prop a stool on the bathroom basin in North Albury in order to balance her box brownie and capture her reflection. It was her picture that helped inspire a new exhibition focusing on street and lifestyle photos taken throughout the 20th century on the Border.
Down memory lane
“It’s Dark Outside” October 19, HotHouse Theatre 8pm, $49
"When we started creating the show it was about the wildness in people ... we didn't discover memory until we started making the puppets." 18 months in the making, It’s Dark Outside is a magical story of memory told through exquisite light projections, music, animation, puppetry and one man's mind. Last show tonight (Friday night) only. Don’t miss this very special show by The Last Great Hunt at HotHouse Theatre.
