Victorian Marc Robertson will play Cale Barrett, of Tasmania, in the opening men’s match, while South Australian James Delahunty faces Queenslander Shannon Purcell.
“I’m not sure if there’s a clear favourite (to win the title), but I would say Mark and James would be the favourites to make it through to the final and it would be even money on either of those,” Federation president Doug Percy said.
West Australian Sue Bussanich rounds out the states, facing Kolbe Poole from Victoria in the women’s top four clash, while SA powerhouse Lyndall Vine meets Victorian Katrina Defina.
“Lyndall Vine would be the favourite as she’s a seven-time Australian champion,” Percy said.
It will be a big night at Albury’s Commercial Club for the women, who are also contesting the Test series between Australia and England.
The five-match series will be held over three days.
