They think we’re stupid
Once again our political masters are treating us like fools. With elections coming up, all of a sudden there are buckets of money thrown at us in all directions. Bill Tilley is going to fix the out-of-date railway system we have had for many years? Bull dust. Hang on, Cathy McGowan was going to fix the mess by Christmas if she was elected some time ago, but what Christmas Cathy?

Is it any wonder the people of this country have had a gutfull of the lot of them, more interested in their own self-importance than anything else. My question is if the money is available now, why wasn't it available before the elections. The simple reason is that they will do and say anything to get elected.

The world’s gone mad
They say if you make a copy of the original, the copy is not as perfect as the original. If you make a copy of the copy of the original, it is even less perfect and so on. I really think that is what has happened to the human race because we have really lost all sane perspective.
For example, from the beginning of the human race there has always been male and female. Now, just because a very small minority want to be neuter gender, as is their right, the rest of us have to think neuter gender even to the point where a government is considering making it illegal to put a baby’s gender on their birth certificate. Even toy shops are being pressured to sell neuter gender toys, the term "sons and daughters" could be forced out of our vocabulary. How is this even considered sane when it is really mass insanity?
Another example : Again, a very small minority of Islamic Muslims are terrorists. Again our reaction has been over the top and irrational with some councils curtailing Christmas decorations and activities in case they insult Muslims. Do we ask Muslims to not celebrate Muslim traditions because they might offend Christian values? Of course we don't.
And no longer is an accident just an accident. It's now a law suit automatically.
We go on about how the Aboriginals suffered with the first fleet and Australia Day is threatened. Have a thought for the convicts on the first fleet and just how much more they suffered under cruel British rule.
Parents can no longer discipline their children because children have all the power and they know it; they can just divorce the parents. Freedom of speech has gone out the window because we might offend someone, even when joking with a mate. The list goes on, but why go on. We really are descending into madness.

Abortion a medical matter
I believe that Doreen Spalding is confused about democracy. Her letter (‘Babies in womb forgotten’, The Border Mail, October 26) states that the “silent majority” opposes the right for women to have a termination of an unwanted pregnancy, but in Queensland the majority of over 80 per cent supported this right of autonomy.
It is the vocal, but determined minority, that Doreen Spalding supports, which cannot accept that the majority of the population determines the Law. Next NSW will finally be dragged into the 21st Century, as over 80 per cent of voters wish this to happen. Abortion is a medical matter, not a political or ideological football.
