The man, now aged 37, was issued with a court attendance notice in Townsville on Monday for the offences of sexual intercourse with a person aged over 14 and under 16 years (four counts), and two counts of aggravated indecent assault.
The charges relate to an incident in 2006, in which a 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in her home in Lavington by a man known to her.
Detectives from Murray River Police District have been assisted by officers from the Townsville Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Unit in their investigations into the whereabouts of the man.
He is due to appear in Albury Local Court on December 18.
