Albury brickie Callum George has been named TAFE NSW’s Murray region Apprentice of the Year for the excellence at the 2018 excellence in brick and brocklaying awards in Sydney.

The state-wide awards are staged by Masonry Contractors.
Mr George, 21, studied his Certificate III at Albury TAFE and works at local company A&J Woods.
“I wasn’t expecting this,” Mr George said.
“It’s really rewarding to see all the hard work pay off.”
Mr George’s employer, Andrew Woods, praised his final year apprentice for his “tenacity and talent”.

“He’s absolutely amazing and I wish I had 100 more like him,” Mr Woods said.
Callum’s bricklaying teacher, Glen Kilpatrick, paid tribute to his star student’s work in and out of the classroom.
“Callum is a terrific young bricklayer with a desire to produce the best quality brickwork each time he picks up his trowel,” Mr Kilpatrick said.
