Thomas, who finished runner-up in the Giants’ best and fairest this year, has followed the lead of his father, Allan, and grandfather, Bill, in playing at Bunton Park.
Bill played in North Albury’s 1955 premiership while Allan spent 1987 with the Hoppers.
“Mitch is a really exciting young talent and we’re rapt he has come into town to test himself,” coach Isaac Muller said.
“He’s played a lot in the ruck in the Hume league and I’d say we will use him more in the backline and up forward.
“His family has some history at North Albury and that’s important in building culture at footy clubs.”
Brock-Burrum ruckman Matt Seiter rated Thomas as his toughest opponent this year.
