The visitors weren’t out of their comfort zone on the synthetic surface like most clubs in the competition, given they play on the same style of green at home.
One of the deciding factors in the result was a 28-15 victory for Tim Cromie against Robert Bartel.
Ian Woods scored a 21-19 triumph against Dale Mastenbroek, Kevin Evans drew 28-28 with Geoff Kidd, while Kiewa Valley’s sole rink win came from a 26-18 triumph for Jude Bartel against Tyson Cromie.
Yarrawonga’s Robert Tait said it was a pleasing victory given the side was trailing most of the day.
“It was a good win, especially after going up there last year and getting fairly well beaten,” Tait said.
“We didn’t start really well, but we finished the game strongly.
“We were chasing most of the day, Kevin Evans’ rink was 18 shots down at one stage and got up to level them.
“Tim Cromie was 12 shots down very early in the game and he got up and won his, Ian Woods led from start to finish and Tyson Cromie’s rink battled hard all day, but couldn’t get their nose in front.”
