Paramedics and police were called to the incident in central Wangaratta about 11.55am on Sunday.
The man was treated at the scene.
An spokesman from Ambulance Victoria said he had to be transported to hospital.
He arrived at the hospital about 12.30pm and was in a serious but stable condition.
It was unclear what injuries the man sustained during the crash.
Police are investigating.
