The Indi MP was handing out how to vote cards for independent candidate, and Voices for Indi founder, Tammy Atkins this week.
“People are very private about it, they’re not giving a lot away,” Ms McGowan said.
She will be at Wodonga Senior Secondary College this morning handing out fliers for Jacqui Hawkins, before casting her own vote for the young independent.
Although Ms McGowan wore Ms Hawkins’ identifying yellow to speak to media yesterday, she will barrack for all the independents.
“I hope they do well. I’m hoping that some of them are actually able to get across the line, but even if they don’t, I think it’s the first time we’ve had really substantial competition,” she said.
