Police and paramedics were called to Centaur Road, near the intersection of Spalding Street, about 7.10am on Thursday.
The man had been crossing the road when he was struck by a sedan travelling east.
He suffered injuries to his hand, body, legs and head.
The man was taken to Albury Base Hospital by ambulance.
The incident was witnessed by others and police are investigating the cause.
It followed a string of traffic matters in Albury on Wednesday.
A motorbike rider was detected travelling at high speed on Young Street about 12.10pm and failed to stop.
Police chased after the car on Fraunfelder, Fallon, and Mate streets, and eventually arrested the man on Urana Road.
It’s alleged the 19-year-old North Albury man reached speeds of about 120km/h and travelled through red lights.
Senior Constable Steve Schausinger said officers found a push dagger – which are a prohibited weapon – when the rider stopped.
His motorbike was impounded and he was charged with dangerous driving in a police pursuit and possessing a prohibited weapon.
The 19-year-old told police he had panicked.
He will front court on December 17.
Officers were also forced to restrain an aggressive driver after pulling over his car on North Street about 11.45am.
The 37-year-old probationary driver was agitated and later returned a reading of .035, and a knife and marijuana were found in a search.
