Yarding: 26,800. Change: down 33,200.
Further rain across the supply area contributed to a slight decrease in numbers. Trade lambs were in reasonable supply, although quality was very mixed across the medium and heavy trade weight classes, with irregular competition for the full fleeced portion. Inspired restockers kept a floor in prices for the light lambs under 18kg. Heavy lambs were once again limited and demand was strong, with northern processors dominating the market. The usual group of buyers attended, however, not all major domestic or export processors operated fully. Trade lambs were in shorter supply and quality varied particularly across the full fleeced lamb categories. The bulk of new season trade lambs made from $141 to $186/head, averaging from 701c to 738c/kg cwt. Shorn heavy and extra heavy lambs ignited the bidding, with premium prices paid throughout the sale.
