Mr Kerr also contested Indi for Labor back in 2016.
“I'm very proud to represent Labor in Indi again,” he said in a statement on Sunday afternoon.
“We are the party of Medicare, the party of Gonski, the party of the NBN and NDIS.”
Mr Kerr said that, as a past candidate, he had spent the past three years preparing to run again.
He said he was keen to hit the campaign trail.
“Health and education are vital services for everyone in Indi, whether they live out on a farm or in towns,” Mr Kerr said.
“As the concerns expressed by local doctors have shown, Indi is missing out on vital funding. This has to change.”
Mr Kerr pointed to the protest from school children last week, and said the community want to see fresh blood in Parliament, a new perspective and a shake-up from the old.
“I will deliver that.”
Mr Kerr will be making a quick tour of the electorate on Monday.
