Let them stay until Margaret is out of hospital. They need support and are doing no harm. Too often, this Council and its affiliates treat Albury assets as their own personal property (sporting facilities, pools, parks, streets, trees).
Note to self, Councillors. These assets are owned and paid for by ratepayers. You are simply in a position to look after them, or not.
The Showgrounds fall into this ratepayer category and I am more than willing to allow the Nocens to occupy a tiny space until their circumstances improve. It's called understanding and compassion.
I am also pondering the hypothetical that, if this family was of refugee or Aboriginal origin, there would be no problem. The mayor often wisely reminds us that Albury is a welcoming community. Does this sentiment only apply if the recipients are not white? Surely not.
We need to welcome and show compassion towards the Nocens as temporary members of our community.
Christmas spirit, anyone?

Australia dead last
Allianz, the world’s largest financial management and insurance company, has just released its Allianz Climate and Energy Monitor 2018.
On page 10 there is a chart showing ‘Paris Compatible Long-term Vision’ and it is interesting to see how countries are performing in relation to their commitments under the Paris Agreement goals for tackling greenhouse emissions.
Here is a selection of the results: France scores 80, United Kingdom 68, Germany 63, India 50, China 37, the United States 17, Russia 9, and Australia zero. It makes me cringe.

We can find a way
With the recent meeting Scott Morrison called with the Muslim leaders he failed to show strong leadership which this country desperately needs.
There is an issue that is apparent with a minority of Muslim younger population which is continually been shown by their radical behaviour.
All the Muslim leadership need to accept that and help in addressing the solution.
To put pressure on the Muslim leadership Scott Morrison should have directed that all Muslim immigration will be stopped immediately until worthwhile negotiations are commenced.
Strong leaders make tough decisions which may offend people at first but over time people see the benefits then warm and accept.
There is a solution to this recent trend as Muslims have lived in this country successfully for over 150 years.
