The NSW-based point event is for slalom skiers, jumpers and trick skiers of all ages with other rounds being staged at Newcastle, Moree, Canberra, Mulwala and Port Macquarie.
In the junior ranks, Daniel Finnimore, Mitchell Laws and Lachy Butlin will be out to make a mark on the field in the boys division against strong competition from Wagga’s Callan Ashcroft and Kyle Buck.
Lara Butlin, a highly-ranked junior, and Steph Hodgson are expected to score well in the girls against up-and-coming Izzy Shaw and Jaycee Ashcroft.
Deniliquin’s Hayes girls, Erica and Laura, are also improving rapidly and expected to impress in the junior girls division.
Albury’s Ben Christesen and David Finnimore are set to dominate open men’s slalom with West Wyalong’s Greg Keely and Wagga’s Mitch Barber dangerous.
Callan Ashcroft, a member of the Australian side, is expected to push well over the 50-metre mark in the open men’s jump.
The Border has produced a long list of stars over the years with another handful progressing nicely.
The action starts from 8am and runs to 5pm.
Entry is free with a canteen available.
It will be the first major tournament for the Albury-Wodonga Club this year with a five-round slalom in March before skiers head to Moomba and the nationals at Moree.
