The girlfriend of Wodonga cafe manager Rocky Pereira will be called to give evidence about whether he was asleep on the night he allegedly set fire to the business.

She will be one of four witnesses in the case when it returns to Wodonga Magistrates Court in May next year.
The prosecution opposed his girlfriend being cross-examined at the hearing because her statement said she had “normal” sleeping patterns.
But Pereira’s solicitor Tim Hemsley said the woman was in the early stages of pregnancy and suffering morning sickness, so he wanted to question her, which was agreed to by magistrate Fran Medina.
