The five-year-old gelding finished sixth, first-up from a spell at Wagga at his most recent outing over 1200m.
Hail The Hero is also a chance to contest the SDRA Country Championships if his form this preparation warrants a start.
A heat of the championships will be run at Albury in February with the final at Royal Randwick in April.
“We are expecting him to improve with the step-up to 1400m,” the Albury trainer said.
“We bought him from Sydney and it’s only his second start for the stable.
“He has been a little bit quirky and tends to over-race but we have tinkered with his gear and hopefully we can see something better from him today.”
The action starts at Albury with the Johnson MME Maiden Plate (1175m) at 1.26pm with seven races on the program.
