We are thrilled to announce we reached a total of $8698.70 in donations this year. We couldn't have reached this total without the ongoing support and generousity of the management of West End Plaza and Lavington Square who not only donate the space to wrap but also the paper, sticky tape, ribbons and bows.
This means every dollar goes to the rescues.
A massive thank you to Lorraine and Rae, the co-ordinator extraordinaires who recruit and roster the fabulous volunteer wrapping elves. We hope you and your furbabies have a wonderful festive season and we hope you see you next year.

What an eyesore
Have you seen the sate of the old Saleyards at Baranduda lately? What a disgusting eyesore as an entry for Whytes Road, as well as to residents and passersby going out to the Weir on the Murray Valley Highway.
Surely Council, in all their wisdom, could have seen fit to put a ‘metal junk yard’ out further; say on unused farmland and away from view.
Further, also notice how pristine the nature strip grass is on the Latchford Barracks side of Whytes Road, and then cast your eyes to the other side? Again, what an eyesore.
How a fire would rage with all this fuel. Certainly a pretty poor example of rates money at work.
Lee Lawther, Baranduda
Idiots on the road
A casual trip to visit a friend in Dartmouth on Boxing Day turned into a disgusting event of road intimidation.
My wife driving her beloved Camry was suddenly confronted by a light-flashing Hilux and tandem trailer with a Landcruiser and boat on trailer on the Dartmouth Road just outside of the township. My wife braked which seemed to inflame our followers even more. To pull over safely was out of the question as we had just negotiated 60 to 70 km/h bends, travelling safely on unfamiliar country roads. Not so for our impatient followers.
Thankfully around the next bend was a long straight stretch where the Hilux and tandem passed. Good riddance, we thought. Then he slowed to ensure we caught up, the Landcruiser and boat behind fell back obviously communicating. Then as he was sure we were in the most vulnerable position, he pulled into the verge with the trailer and showered us with rocks, dust and debris.
To be sure of ultimate intimidation this act was committed twice. As we arrived in the township five minutes later the offenders were delivering to a construction site. They seemed to beckon us by sitting in defiance.
It left us wondering if this was a hillbilly mentality that “we own the roads”, all visitors stay away. I will never return and I will advise others to stay away.
We reported the incident to the Wodonga Police and provided all information and registration numbers.
We will also provide information to insurers as these drivers are the reason we are paying exorbitant premiums.
