A security camera set up at Laura Grealy’s Delatite Court home captured about six people ripping out the lights from her front lawn.
They damaged the lights and left.
The same thing occurred three times last Christmas and Ms Grealy says she’s unlikely to install the display next year.
“They stole two set of lights,” she said.
“Cost wise, it’s only about $30 but it’s just the principle of it.
“Who the hell steals Christmas lights from someone?
“They were just doing it for vandalism, for some sort of fun.
“I’ve got a four-year-old who woke up on Boxing Day to find the lights were gone.
“He was so distraught.”
Ms Grealy said she hoped those responsible woke up to themselves.
She said her son was “really upset”, and she was herself concerned about having a group of people outside her home at night.
“He goes to the front and cries and asks why someone would do that,” Ms Grealy said.
“I don’t know what to tell him.”
Ms Grealy had installed the security camera outside her house following the damage last Christmas.
She had hoped it would prevent the property from being targeted.
The single mother has installed the lights for her son each year, and never had any problems until she moved to Delatite Court two years ago.
“It’s just heartbreaking, especially to see my little boy so upset by it,” Ms Grealy said.
“As a single mother at Christmas even the $30 (in damage) is too much, there was no replacing them this year.”
Last year’s damage bill had been about $180, she said.
The home wasn’t the only property targeted in the region over the festive period.
A car and electronic items were stolen during the break-ins, one of which occurred while people were inside the property.
