Extras top-scored with 29, including 10 wides, while Caleb Walker made 18.
Patrick Byrnes bowled superbly to finish with 3-6 at Wagga’s Forest Hill Oval.
CAW struggled against the home team’s miserly attack and was bowled out for 67 from 21 overs.
“Seven of the wickets were bowled,” Wagga coach Mark Crittenden said.
Josh Murphy held an end up for an extended period in scoring 24 runs.
“A lot of the kids were playing their first game ever on turf, so there was a bit of uneven bounce and it was a testing wicket, which made it a bit hard for both teams and it was beneficial for all the bowlers,” CAW coach Rowan Hall.
The pair plays in the Don Dennis Shield Thunder competition.
The other section – the Stars leg – starts Thursday with Wangaratta Blue to tackle CAW Stars at the HP Barr Reserve, while Wangaratta Gold faces CAW Thunder.
