Two thieves were caught on security footage entering Wahgunyah Automotive Repairs on Sunday morning.
The video shows the two people, wearing track pants and jumpers with their faces covered, going into the Victoria Street workshop about 5.10am.
They searched through drawers and left with a blue Holden utility, worth about $13,000.
Wodonga detectives believe the incident may be linked to a string of weekend burglaries between the Yarrawonga region and Wodonga.
Mechanic Darryl Briggs said he hoped someone in the community has information on the offenders.
He has already had people contact him through social media after information was posted online, and he plans to pass on names to investigators.
“It’s frustrating,” he said.
“It’s a bit of a setback.
“Lucky they didn’t trash the joint, but there’s a car missing and another car damaged.”
He managed to repair the damage to the vehicle and the property relatively quickly.
The 2009 utility, which has Victorian registration plates XBV 855, has not been recovered.
Detective Senior Constable Ray Causer said burglaries had also occurred at Yarrawonga and Mulwala.
"There's been a series of other offences that have occurred along the border, and other businesses have been broken into between Saturday and Sunday,” he said.
