NEW video conferencing facilities will give Victorian small businesses greater access to dispute resolution services. The Victorian Small Business Commission launched its first video conference mediation this week. Victorian Small Business Commissioner Judy O’Connell said rural and remote small businesses unable to travel to a mediation now have access to mediation. “There are a lot of small business owners who are not using our services and we are hoping video conferencing facilities will allow more small business to attend a mediation session without leaving their home,” she said. “We will continue to offer dispute resolution services in regional centres, and video conferencing will not replace face-to-face mediation.”
ON TRACK: Judy O'Connell says rural and remote small businesses now have access to mediation and a viable option to keep their dispute out of the court system.
