After being a finalist in the 400m at Castlemaine and Rye in recent weeks, Gill-Vallance continued his good form by storming to victory.
“He had a couple of weeks off over Christmas and didn’t think he was that fit,” trainer Adrian Fury said.
“But he came back well at Castlemaine and Rye and really ran strongly the other night.
“It was a good effort winning for the second time.”
Gill-Vallance previously saluted in 2017.
Stablemate David Flood came third at St Albans after being a finalist at Rye last week.
Hamish Adams, who was a placegetter in the 2018 Stawell gift final, won the 120-metre race at St Albans.
Gill-Vallance, Flood and Mitch Palmer will contest the 400m at Wangaratta’s Norm Minns Oval.
Brady Lehmann will also run if he recovers from a leg injury.
