A series of events to support people through the 10th anniversary of the Black Saturday fires will take place in the North East in coming weeks.

Clinic psychologist Rob Gordon will be at the Mudgegonga Hall on Tuesday, February 5 at 7pm to reflect on the event.
Dr Gordon has extensive experience with recovery from natural disasters in Australia and New Zealand.
Mudgegonga resident Loretta Carroll said the community had pulled together during and after the 2009 fires.
“The Mudgegonga community now has a community-wide email network that is used extensively to keep people informed,” she said.

“This type of communication has become a norm, whereas before the fires nothing like this existed.”
On Wednesday, February 6 there will be mental health professionals at the Beechworth Health Service, and the following day there will be a community barbecue from 6pm at the Town Hall Gardens.
BHS chief executive Mark Ashcroft said the council and CFA fire brigades had come together to host the evening.
“The events of 2009 will never be forgotten and a decade on, people across our community have come a long way,” he said.
“The more we all know about mental health and the services that are there to help, the more we can support each other.”
Also, Alpine Health, Albury Wodonga Health, Gateway Health, headspace and the Centre Against Violence are working together to deliver a range of free events.
