Given no peace in front after leading, Jester Angel showed plenty of fight in the straight to score narrowly for jockey Blaike McDougall.
Maclean said he would now raise the bar with Jester Angel and head to Warwick Farm early next month.
“The plan was to try and sit off them a little bit but when nothing else wanted to lead Blaike showed some initiative and went to the front himself,” Maclean said.

“She copped a bit of a bump turning for home which unbalanced her for a few strides.
“But once she balanced up again, she showed plenty of fight and hit the line strongly.
“That’s why you want McDougall on your horse when there is a tight finish – there isn’t too many jockey’s locally who can lift them like him.
“I booked him two week’s ago and it paid dividends.”
