Disappointed at already having lost Tom McCaffrey and Nick Murray to the Hawks, the Raiders are incensed at reports that Raven Jolliffe could also follow former coach Daryn Cresswell to last year’s wooden spooners.
Jolliffe was spotted training with the Rovers last week and is yet to officially inform the Raiders of his intentions for this season.
Rovers were allocated an extra six points to help with recruiting by AFL North-East Border but Raiders’ football manager, Brad Smith, was disappointed their players were being targeted.
“As a club we are frustrated to lose three players to a rival club,” Smith said.
“Rovers were allocated an extra six points to help with recruiting but we don’t think the extra points should be used to poach players from the same competition.
“We can’t see too many of their kids getting opportunities if they have got all these recruits from other clubs.”
VFL players Max Spencer and Charlie Thompson have also nominated the Hawks as their second club.
Cresswell could not be contacted for comment on Tuesday.
“We went out of our way to support Raven for the past two years,” he said.
“When we had discussions in November with Raven about this season, he informed us he was more than likely to return home to Balranald.
“We wished him all the best and let him know the door was always open.
“It’s disappointing to hear second hand he has gone to another club.”
