Peter Bowen Homes general manager Michael Walsh said this week the new Brooklyn Fields estate on Table Top Road had created a lot of anticipation among potential buyers and social media networks.
“The reality is Thurgoona’s where the available land is,” Mr Walsh said.
“The population here is growing, there’s going to be an ongoing need for new residential housing and Thurgoona seems to be that place where it’s going to end up.
“Certainly all the reports that Albury City Council’s issued in the last few years and as recently as a few months ago demonstrates that this thirst for land is going to continue.”

Albury Council figures indicate the Thurgoona growth area spans more than 4500 hectares and has a population of about 9500 people that is forecast to grow to 17,500 in 2036 and to 50,000 (including Wirlinga) in the next 50 years.
Results from the council’s Growing Thurgoona community conversations surveys last year revealed residents particularly liked the area’s bushland, wildlife and community feel.
The most common theme for what needed to change or improve related to traffic flow, an issue raised in 209 out of 518 responses.
Mr Walsh said Thurgoona’s infrastructure was continuing to develop.
“In terms of roads, in terms of schools, there’s commercial precincts that are growing, so we certainly see council investing out there and we’re really happy to see that,” he said.
Peter Bowen Homes will hold a grand opening of its eight new display homes from 9am Saturday with children’s activities, giveaways and complimentary gelato.
Located behind the Kinross Woolshed, the village represents the next step for the builder from its previous Thurgoona development at Mitchell Park.
Mr Walsh said the varied home designs would suit a wide range of buyers while the new estate focused on sustainability, with every display home including a solar system.
“I think the modern home buyer’s just looking for more features in their home, so they’re looking for a high quality standard of finish but also looking for those creature comforts,” Mr Walsh said.
“Things like walk-in pantries, stone bench tops, outdoor living spaces, so alfrescos have now become a really big feature of all of our homes.”
