Wind gusts up to 76km/h were recorded at Albury about 3.45pm, causing a shed, outdoor settings, trampolines and other items to become airborne.
A shed was badly damaged at the Albury Racecourse.
Howlong was hit particularly hard during the deluge, with the town’s golf course forced to close.
Power to about 1300 customers was cut before being restored on Monday afternoon.
Golf course superintendent Paul Irvine said trees fell during the wild weather, which lasted about 45 minutes.
Arborists were brought in to clear up the debris with help from about 15 volunteers on Monday.
“The rain was coming in sideways,” Mr Irvine said.
“It’s not resembling a bomb site any more like it was (on Sunday). It looks like a golf course again.”

Up to 80 golfers had been due to play at Howlong on Sunday, and Mr Irvine said the course should be open again by Tuesday.
The storm damage had cost thousands to repair, he said.
“It was only a 45-minute storm but it’s taken all day to get the course right again,” Mr Irvine said.
“It’s been really heartwarming having 15 volunteers come at short notice to clean up.”
More showers are predicted on Tuesday, followed by possible thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, with further showers and storms forecast on Thursday and Friday.
