The seven-time premiership mentor will speak at Albury Thunder’s annual sportsman’s luncheon on Friday.
“Sam Burgess is coming down with me as well and we’ll do a luncheon, so it should be a really good weekend,” Bennett said.
“South Sydney is a great brand and a great club, so people should be looking forward to seeing them play.
“It is important to me (to take games to the bush), I think we’ve got great resources as a club and we can give something back to the game, to the grassroots, where most of us come from, and that’s what I’m trying to do here.”
Bennett will also speak at a pre-game function at the Albury Sportsground on Saturday.
The Sydney media has often criticised the master coach for not doing enough publicity, but he’s doing all he can to promote the match against Riverina.
“It’s what it’s about for me, as a club making ourselves available for 48 hours and letting the local people know that South Sydney certainly cares about the game and cares about them,” Bennett said.
The Rabbitohs boast the most premierships with 21.
“They’re the brand of Rugby League and without South Sydney, the NRL doesn’t work (as well),” Albury Thunder’s Mike Eden said.
The match starts at 6pm.
