THE charismatic showman behind iconic Australian band Chocolate Starfish Adam Thompson is on a roll.
His upcoming Bohemian Rhapsody Soundtrack Live shows are selling out fast, his MusoMagic workshops to engage people through music have never been more popular and he's lining up for the second series of the Red Hot Summer Tour.
With Queen frontman Freddie Mercury a big influence on his showmanship, Thompson said he was excited to take the act to the capital cities this year.
"At 54, I'm doing the biggest solo shows of my career," he quipped.
"Given the fact the Melbourne show has sold well, I'm hopeful they'll take it to regional centres next year."
The son of a Tallygaroopna dairy farmer, Thompson has frequently toured with Chocolate Starfish in the country.
Melbourne-based Thompson said he liked to visit his dad at Shepparton as often as possible. (Sadly, Thompson was only 12 when they lost his mum.)
"Dad came off the farm 15 years ago," he said.
"Sometimes I drive past that farm with trepidation.
"My family had that farm for over 100 years; there's lots of sadness.
"It just became untenable for my dad like it does for so many farmers. I would not be surprised if, in five or 10 years, milk is genetically-modified and does not even come from cows!"
Chocolate Starfish will join Suzi Quatro, The Angels, Baby Animals, The Screaming Jets and Moving Pictures and Chocolate Starfish.in the Red Hot Summer Tour Series Two.
Thompson relished touring with Quatro again.
"She is amazing; I have a lot of respect for her," he said.
"We've had some great talks about the universe and spirituality; she's a very deep thinker as well as being a great rocker."
As for Chocolate Starfish, Thompson said fans were in for a good time.
"We set the tone for pretty vibrant tours, so it will be a big, fun show!" he said.
