FORMER Albury spearhead Matt Fowler and Lavington goal shooter Sarah Senini have been named in the Ovens and Murray's football and netball teams of the past 25 years.
Fowler played in six flags and holds the games record with the Tigers after having played 354 matches.
"It's a massive honour," Fowler said.
Senini has been a tower of strength for Panthers as a goal-shooter and is still playing strongly for the club.
Triple Brownlow medallist Haydn Bunton has been named in the Ovens and Murray's Team of the Century.
The league is set to honour past and current champions with the announcement of both the football Team of the Century (1893 – 1992) and 25-year team (1993-2018).
A 25-year netball team will also be named at the gala dinner at the SS&A Club on Saturday, March 2.
Fowler said the honour of being picked ranked nearly as high as his six flag triumphs.
“Premierships are the ultimate and you cherish them forever,” he said.
“But to be mentioned in the same breath as some of the greats that played in the same era as me is huge.
“I’d imagine there will be quite a few of my Albury teammates in this side.
“I’m asked quite often who is the best Tiger you played alongside and it’s impossible to name just one.
“My best five are Stephen Ash, Glenn Page, Tim Scott in my early years and Shaun Daly, and Chris Hyde in the latter half of my career.
“They were great team players but some of their individual efforts in big games has been phenomenal.”
Fowler also played tribute to some of the great defenders of his era.
“I had some epic battles with Paul Knight early in my career alongside Graham Hart and Craig Tafft.
“They were phenomenal defenders and you never got any easy kick against them.”
Fowler hasn’t called stumps on his glittering career and is set for a sixth season with Thurgoona.
“I still love playing and the camaraderie and mateship that goes with playing a team sport,” he said.
“Just the banter after a good win, it’s what you play for.”
