Singer-songwriter Tom Curtain released Speak Up with fellow Golden Guitar winner, Sara Storer, to raise money and awareness for Dolly’s Dream.
Now Curtain will perform in Albury on Saturday night as part of his Speak Up Tour throughout NSW, Victoria and Queensland.
Together with his horses, dogs and music, Curtain has played to about 15,000 people since taking Katherine Outback Experience on the road in December.
“Many of the communities we are playing are in drought and need something to look forward to, to make them smile and allow them to forget about their worries for a couple of hours,” Curtain said.
But Curtain said he had a serious message to spread as part of his tour.
Through his friendship with Dolly's parents, Curtain wrote Speak Up after the teenager’s sudden death following relentless bullying.
He has performed the song, which reached No. 1 on the iTunes Country Songs Chart, to 5000 students.
“We have had an amazing response from schools,” Curtain said.
“I am sharing my story of growing up in drought on our family farm, and the challenges we have experienced in getting to where we are today, together with the Speak Up message on behalf of Dolly’s Dream, (which raises awareness of bullying and supports victims.)"
Each show includes a one-hour outback horse and dog show followed by an hour of live music.
