Be the best player you can be.
Coaches have fallen for the trick of trying to be a super coach and forget their first, and most important job, is to get the footy and use it well.
Sharp has played centre at VFL level, so he's an outstanding player in his own right.
He just needs to show that first.
THE SAINTS COULDN'T HANDLE THE EXPECTATIONS AFTER BREAKING A FINALS DROUGHT IN 2016, WHAT WILL CHANGE?
Experience.
A number of players who were there in 2017 when the team fell away should have learnt from that.
Myrtleford has claimed just the one premiership and it's 50 years in 2020.
The league will be praying the Saints make finals this year, sign an AFL player and then make a grand final next year.
Some will tell you you're dreaming, but that's what the Saints and league wants.
HOW MUCH WILL KURT AYLETT PLAY?
Very little.
And it's the same with a host of former AFL players (Wodonga Raiders' Max Spencer), we will be lucky to see them.
HAVE THE SAINTS BEEN HANDED THE DRAW FROM HEAVEN?
Myrtleford fans should get down on their knees and say a silent prayer.
Basically, everyone around the league thinks Wangaratta and Albury will be the top two, and the Saints don't face them until round nine and seven respectively.
Some will slot Lavington in for third and the Panthers sandwich the big guns.
Myrtleford has North Albury, Wodonga and Wangaratta Rovers in the first three weeks and it will fancy its chances of a perfect start.
Yarrawonga is a tough test, but then it's a weakened Wodonga Raiders (from last year anyway) and the Roos, who finished ninth.
Q&A WITH BRADY SHARP
Q: What will it mean to you to play in the same team as your brothers Jake and Ryley?
A: We've probably played three senior games for Myrtleford and a little bit of juniors, so it will be good fun for all of us. Most of all it's good for mum (Sandra) and dad (Richard) to sit back and relax and enjoy the three of us playing in the same game, I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it.
Q: Jake's in his first year as coach and it's well known how tough that can be while playing, why will he make a good coach?
A: Obviously with everything he's learnt in his career at Werribee, I guess he took a lot from John Lamont, his senior coach there, Jake's a very calm character, he keeps everyone engaged and he's easy to learn off I guess.
Q: Myrtleford has played finals just once in the past 12 seasons, yet there seems a real buzz, why's that?
A: We're obviously excited at the potential we've got to play some good footy. We're all maturing that little bit and realising what it takes to be a good Ovens and Murray footballer and a good Ovens and Murray team. I guess coming along with that, the standards pick up and people drive each other a little bit more.
