Take your trash with you
While camping on the Murray River at Yarrawonga last weekend, I picked up quite a few bags of rubbish from around our campsite. It did not take long. I wonder why people go to such a great spot for a holiday and then treat it like a rubbish dump?

There was a variety of stuff left behind but what I found most troubling was the stack of broken toys. What are these holiday-makers saying to their kids about cleaning up after themselves, let alone about respect for the place?
There used to be a skip for people to put their rubbish in but it has not been there for a long time.
The idea of 'take you rubbish with you' is simple but I think an alternative should be there for those who will not do that. I guess the question then is, who would be responsible for monitoring and taking the rubbish? Council? Parks? Who is looking after the river bank?

Comment most inaccurate
I can't let the comment made by Albury mayor and now independent candidate for Farrer Kevin Mack go unanswered that Sussan Ley "has worked tirelessly for herself as a politician for 18 years".
As Sussan's Liberal FEC president for the entire period, and prior to her preselection, I can't think of a more inaccurate comment on those 18 years.
I have consistently asked Sussan to promote herself more, but her response is "it's about the people I can help in the electorate, not me".
She is, by nature, not somebody who likes to push her own image or personality onto others.
I have witnessed the time and effort she puts in helping individuals through problems, most of which are private matters that never see the light of day.
An election offers voters the chance to weigh up who is the best choice to represent their interests and those of their community.
MPs who only look after themselves don't usually last very long.

Not liberal or democratic
Tim Quilty MP quotes Oliver Cromwell’s words from 1648 in dismissing Parliament: “Depart, I say; and let us have none with you ... In the name of God, go!”.
In the same speech he advocates both creating new states and smaller government! (“New Upper House MP Tim Quilty uses maiden speech to parliament to call for new state to help rural residents”). Not very liberal or democratic, if that’s what a Liberal Democrat is about.
Best we discuss in the Wodonga RSL over an organic cold-pressed barista latte or a local wine.
We are customers of your products so we do care where our goat cheese, wine varieties, and almonds in our almond milk come from.
