The Wodonga Magistrates Court this week heard Tyson Beckett, 21, was found with the drugs during a raid on February 14.
The Lawrence Street resident told police he received 900 grams of marijuana every second day from a supplier to resell.
The 21-year-old is a regular marijuana user, smoking multiple times each day.
Beckett, who has been in custody for about two weeks since his arrest, has also been a registered sex offender since March 2017.
The court heard he had breached his reporting obligations five times by living with his 17-year-old girlfriend, who was found hiding under a bed.
He was also living with his 17-year-old brother, got a new tattoo in December, took up a new job at a Lavington truck wash and had a phone he didn’t declare, all of which breached his obligations.
He has since been sacked from his job for being unreliable.
The court heard he had priors for failing to comply with sex offender laws, and was convicted of three breaches a year ago.
“He just doesn’t get the message,” magistrate Ian Watkins said.
The fact he had priors made the matters “all the more serious”, he said.
Lawyer Mario Vaccaro said his client was a young offender who turned to drugs after finding his dad dead when he was 16.
“This is his first time in custody and the message is certainly sinking in now,” he said.
Mr Watkins ordered a pre-sentence report and the matter will return to court on April 23.
