POLICE are investigating the death of a man on the Hume Highway in Albury on Sunday afternoon.

He was reportedly struck by a Ford Transit van while on foot on the freeway near the southbound exit to East Street just before 2pm.
The man was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the van was taken to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
Southbound traffic was diverted around the site via off and on ramps.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
